So excited about singing!!

Day Number 6!!

Today gave me a whole new excitement for the next 24 days! Well actually the next 365 x's how ever many years I am alive I will be singing! I had a great healthy and productive day! Had a great coaching session with Paul and great yoga and food with my best friend Molly! Great day! I am very proud of myself for getting it all in today!! 4 things + work + school + quality time with great friends = a heck of a productive day!!!

Daily Practice Session

Technical Concepts - I warmed up, before my practice session, with 25 minutes of a recorded lesson with Kurt (of course :) ) and went over the cry-baby-mums four times because I just could not seem to get relaxed! I would get to a certain part and get so tense and it would almost start to hurt... I would stop when it started to and just start from the beginning and finally I got the concept correct! No tension!
25 Minutes

Repertoire - After my awesome session with Paul I went through my whole musical theatre notebook (from last semester) and sung everything over... no music but just from memory... it was actually really fun because I just went at these songs and didn't have the boundaries of what the music needed me to do. Sang through... Beauty and the Beast, In My Own Little Corner, 2 songs Kathy made us learn that I am totally blanking on the names right now... shoot, Skylark, & Summertime.
28 Minutes

Successes – I found it really easy to hit some of the high notes that before seemed so daunting at the beginning of the semester. It was nice how much music I remember.

Areas for improvement – I don't understand how one day there can be no problems on an exercise and the next it is like a foreign concept!! Ugh! get on board and remember already muscles!! I wanna be good yesterday!!

Notes: I love singing! brainstormed about the 5 charity things... got some good ideas!!

Private Lessons/Coaching Sessions

Date/time - today... January 6th, 2011

Instructor - Paul Roth
45 Minutes

Repertoire - We worked on Be Still and Here's Where I Stand

Points covered – I worked on starting phrases because I almost never start on time... I always start with the second word.... I just have trouble getting out there... I always hesitate.  We also worked on hearing the pitch and getting there and not sitting on top of it... Paul said I am a little sharp sometimes so that is something I need to work on.

Notes: Thank you Kurt for having us do this because it is so helpful! and so fun! It is so nice to work with a live piano and person! very empowering!

What did you most enjoy? – I really liked all the ab work that I got to do! Also some great butt stuff :) he  he

What did you find challenging and why? – My shoulders felt so weak today... and my left hip is way tighter than my right :( I think I need a massage! Yay I get one on the 17th!!!

Observations – This was the first time in Allisun's Yoga/lates class and I liked it but I like her classic class better because this one was only 1 hour long and the other is the perfect time 1 and 1/2 hour :)
