Dia Doce! 12!
(before 12 a.m.)
Today was really great for my growth as a singer! Even though it was super nerve racking and I didn't sound that great I felt confident in myself by the end of the day. They say the more you do it the easier it gets... so I am pretty sure I need to sing live every day!!! Then some day it will be easier! Also would like to add that I love my new tights that my boss gave me for Christmas! I overheard two girls saying how awesome they were and I almost chimed in "I KNOW Right!!!" ha ha
Daily Practice Session
Technical Concepts - Today before the charity show at Grands Senior Living I warmed up with one of the recordings with Kurt. I was pretty nervous so I could feel a lot of tension even when just warming up which obviously I need to find a way to keep that from happening! the two that did feel relaxed were lip trills and goo-goos. I also worked through the la-le-li-lo-lu exercise, and nay, ve-ve down into the chest voice. I worked hardest on just relaxing my voice and making the sound actually come out right the way it does when I am alone.
24 Minutes
Repertoire - I worked on In My Own Little Corner and Stepsisters Lament over and over and over again... and for some reason I kept dropping the words to Stepsister and that was making me so stressed! I know the words but felt so much pressure about the performance that I could not focus... I also ran through King of Anything and remembered that I don't have it transcribed correctly because (maybe I am slow) but I could not for the life of me figure it out... honestly think it is not allowed on this song or something... is that possible?

Successes – During Vocal warm-up I didn't feel very successful... too much tension.... I still feel tense actually!!
Areas for improvement – Just letting go of all the anxiety that goes along with singing in front of people.. I do believe I have a nice voice... just need to be stronger and more confident.
Notes: I need to get accompany music for all my songs because I can't practice very well without them...

Charitable Deed #1
Today a bunch of my fellow challengers and I went to the Grands Senior Living to sing for about 45 minutes... I sang 2 songs. It was really nice to see how it made their day. At first it didn't really seem like they likes having us there but then the crowd warmed up to us! Some of the people knew the songs and were swaying back and forth! One of the guys was even taking pictures to remember us with :) I am so thankful that Renee set this up for us and I hope to go back and make a regular thing out of this. It was so fun and exhilarating to sing in front of people too! Even though for the last week I have been preparing and stressing out about today it was so worth it to use an art I love to make other people smile!
